Just an envelope without the contents, sent from Bill Nevis to his son Arnold. Someone borrowed a machine from Arnold and wrote on the back of this envelope.

Hazel's note was written on a Tuesday, so perhaps March 8, 1949, but the envelope is postmarked March 12, 1949, with Bill's handwriting.

I note a mistake that Arnold makes, calling his Negro friend Hal May a 'boy' but his friend John Rowe a 'man'. The designation Negro, also, has fallen by the wayside, as has Colored (from the Fifties and Sixties) and sometimes also Black in favor of African-American.

Jantzen was a coveted name-brand for t-shirts back in 1949.
Tuesday, February 22, would have been Washington's birthday, so Leonard, Pat and Laura had the day off from work/school.

Arnold's brother Leonard is busy with his pre-med studies and Leonard's wife Pat is working to support the two of them and attending night classes.
