Arnold and Newlin: Stockholm 1970

We drove down to Stockholm numerous times during the year — it was just an hour's drive from Uppsala — to visit the museums (open-air museum Skansen, Moderna Museet, Prins Eugen's Waldemarsudde art museum, Nordiska Museet), Gamla Stan (the Old City), the royal palace, the battleship Wasa, Gröna Lund amusement park, and the NK department store.

Arnold and Newlin: Norway 1969

Arnie drove the family to Oslo for a long weekend. We stayed in a pension, which was a kind of guest house or boarding house, but in Scandinavia really a hotel with common bathrooms on each floor. Ours in Oslo had a sink in each room but the toilets and showers were down the hall. We saw the Royal Palace, the Viking Ship Museum, and downtown Oslo, but did not get to the Kon-Tiki Museum, though Arnie bought slides of it.

The Vigeland Park (officially called the Vigalund installation in Frogner Park) features 212 bronze and granite sculptures designed by Gustav Vigeland.
