Arnold and Newlin: Grand Canyon 1972

On the return trip from California we stop off at the Grand Canyon, North Rim, where we rented an unheated cabin. It was cold at night and did not have hot water for our showers. Arnie, Allan and Joel hiked down 14.3 miles of trails and 600 feet elevation to the bottom, camping overnight near the Colorado River. The uphill return hike ran into dusk so we hid our backpacks on the side of the trail to walk the last mile or so a bit faster. Newlin and Arnie got up early the next morning to retrieve the backpacks.
