Hazel is still reading The Apostle, by Sholem Asch. The Seventh Beatitude is Matthew 5:9, which goes "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God."
Although Arnold is still a first year student in Harvard Medical School, he is taking classes at MIT. (He will eventually earn a PhD at MIT in 1956.)
